Comanche Acres Iris Gardens is located in the gently rolling hills of northwest Missouri near Gower. Jim Hedgecock is the owner and 2023 marks his 43rd year in business.

The Iris gardens take in some 8 acres. Tall Bearded Iris are, and always will be our mainstay in irises. We grow over 2000 named Tall Bearded varieties, as well as several thousand seedlings. Spuria irises, the king of the landscaping irises, are exploding in popularity. We grow over 200 varieties of Spuria irises, as well as several thousand Spuria seedlings.

Visit the Garden During Bloom Season

May 13th

Every year our customers don't know that our bloom runs at least a week later than the areas south of us. We will have excellent bloom through at least the 20th or so of May and possible later if we get a shower this weekend. You will miss alot of bloom if you think we are out of bloom now. Come and see us.

May 10

The garden is in near full bloom now. We will have excellent bloom for at least the next 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. Hours are 9 to 7 daily, until at least June 1st. I am having the best bloom I have had in 20 years. Bring your family and friends. As a special treat, Alice Faye, one of my favorite country singers will be here Mother's Day.

2 May Update:
We will open tomorrow, May 3rd. We will have some bloom, but the next 3 weeks starting now will increase bloom every day. Join us for a super Mother's Day celebration next Sunday, May 11th. Hours are 9 to 7 daily, 7 days a week until bloom ends
